Company Background

    Sisters Paris Heffner Bissat and Bridget Heffner Brielmaier grew up in a family of ten siblings in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Both sisters have always loved being around, and taking care of, children. After they pursued successful careers (Paris formerly directed guest services for La Costa Resort and the Grand Pacific Palisades Resort, and Bridget was a human resource manager for powerhouse law firm Morrison & Foerester) they found themselves stay-at-home moms in Southern California.

    Paris and Bridget created Adventure Cuts because their children didn’t like having their hair cut and would cry and scream when they took them to adult hair salons. The sisters thought it would be great to have a salon designed for children where kids could play video games and watch fun movies so they would be distracted while they get their hair cut. They painted the walls of Adventure Cuts with murals and filled it with whimsically-themed styling stations, flat screen TVs, toys and a boutique brimming with costumes, gifts and goodies to help children feel comfortable the minute they walk in the door.

    Since they have always enjoyed throwing parties for their kids, Paris and Bridget decided to add a theme party element to the salon. Adventure Cuts’ party room has become a popular destination for North County children’s parties with fun themes like Diva and Rock Star Parties, Fairy Fantasy Parties, Manicure/Pedicure Spa Parties and Pirate Parties.

    "One of the things we love about having the salon is that we get to express our girly side," says Paris. "We each have two sons, so we didn’t get to dress up our own children in frilly dresses and make-up. It's great to be able to do that and to see how much the girls love it. On the other hand, we also know what little boys want to see—pirates and airplanes and things like that. So, we get the best of both worlds."

    "A lot of parents love that they can have all their salon services taken care of while their children are entertained or getting their hair cut; it saves them time and it's a bonding experience. But we're always surprised by how many men come back to the salon without their children to just get a haircut," says Bridget. "We have great stylists and the atmosphere here is friendly and warm, so people like coming here."

    Adventure Cuts' mission is to deliver an entertaining, fun experience for the entire family by providing high-quality hair cuts and salon services, a children's boutique filled with stylish clothing and accessories, and beautiful, customized theme parties that encourage family togetherness and create lifelong memories for everyone.
